Education Technology Leader, 2tor, Changes Company Name to 2U

The 2U name reflects the company’s work with top universities to deliver world-class online learning

LANDOVER, MD, October 17, 2012 – 2tor, Inc., an online education technology company that partners with top-tier universities to offer rigorous, selective, online degree programs to students around the world, announced today that it is changing its name to 2U, Inc. The new name more accurately reflects the role the company plays in supporting and collaborating with its university partners.

“While our name is changing, our mission remains the same,” says Chip Paucek, co-founder and CEO of 2U. “As a company, we stand beside our university partners. We support them and their faculties as they grow their programs online so they can reach more students than ever before. But we don’t teach or tutor their students. Our partner institutions hold sole responsibility for creating the world-class curricula and delivering the inspired instruction that make our partnerships successful. We’re proud to collaborate with and support our great university partners, and our new name reflects that relationship.”

Paucek adds, “We help our university partners make world-class online education possible by combining the best of academic tradition, teaching and culture with world-class technology, content and support —proving that a great university can come to you.”
